What you need before starting
- A stable Windows computer connected to reliable power
- A data-capable USB cable and the current Samsung USB driver
- The complete model number, CSC, and bootloader revision
- One matching firmware package and a current backup
Odin flashing instructions
Stop immediately if the screen, filename, model, or log differs from the procedure for your exact device.
- Record the exact model and CSC. Open Settings → About phone and record the full model number, current build, CSC or service-provider code, and Android version. A retail name such as “Galaxy S24” is not specific enough.
- Back up important data. Save photos, messages, authenticator recovery codes, and anything you cannot replace. Charge the phone above 60% and keep Windows connected to reliable power.
- Install the Samsung USB driver. Install the current Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows. Restart if requested, then close Smart Switch and other phone-management software.
- Download and extract Odin. Download the ZIP into its own folder, compare the published checksum, scan it with current security software, and extract it. Do not run the executable from inside the ZIP.
- Download one matching firmware package. Match the complete device model, CSC or region, and bootloader revision. Keep every BL, AP, CP, CSC, or HOME_CSC file from that one package.
- Enter Download Mode. Use the button sequence documented for the exact Galaxy model. Many newer devices use both volume buttons while connecting USB; older Home-button models use a different sequence.
- Connect and confirm ID:COM. Launch Odin, connect with a reliable data cable, and wait for an ID:COM port plus an “Added” log entry. If neither appears, fix the driver, port, or cable first.
- Load BL, AP, CP, and CSC. Choose each file in its matching slot. AP is normally the largest and can take time to load. CSC commonly wipes data; HOME_CSC commonly attempts to retain it.
- Review the Options tab. For a normal stock-firmware flash, leave Re-Partition off unless an exact repair procedure supplies and requires a PIT file. Re-check every filename before Start.
- Click Start and wait for PASS. Do not move the cable, close Odin, or power down the PC. Disconnect only after Odin reports PASS and the phone begins its expected restart. Save the log if Odin reports FAIL.
Common Odin problems

| No ID:COM or Added message | Reinstall the Samsung driver, change USB port, try another data cable, and close Smart Switch. |
| AP appears frozen while loading | Wait. AP is normally several gigabytes and Odin can take time to calculate and load it. |
| FAIL in the Odin log | Save the log. Re-check the full model, bootloader revision, firmware archive, cable, and USB connection before retrying. |
| Phone loops after PASS | First boot can take longer. If it never completes, use the device-specific recovery procedure or qualified support. |
Do not improvise during a flash. Never disconnect the cable, mix firmware packages, enable Re-Partition without an exact PIT-based repair procedure, or continue after an unexplained mismatch.
